Farmhouse Kitchen Inspiration
Hello again! Dawn here, from DesigningDawn.com, back with another mood board for your decoration inspiration. This time, I thought it would be fun to focus on a very popular design style for my mood board: Farmhouse Decor.
So good, right? I have to say that, while my personal home decor style tends a little more to the modern/eclectic side of the spectrum, there is just something about a farmhouse kitchen that this Nebraska girl can’t get enough of. They just always make you feel right at home. I put together a farmhouse fresh kitchen moodboard, and I just love how it turned out:

How to Decorate a Farmhouse Kitchen
If you’re looking to create a similar style in your kitchen space, here are some of my best farmhouse tips:
• Inspired by Nature – Bringing in a color palate inspired by the great outdoors is one of the easiest ways to get a fresh, farmhouse vibe in your space. Blues, greens, creams, browns, and tans combine to give this kitchen mood board a soothing feeling straight from a serene farm landscape.
• Texture – Unlike the smooth clean lines of more modern styles, Farmhouse decor is defined by the rustic, well-used look of the space. Try bringing in lots of texture— from a natural jute rug, to a soft worn-in apron, to a distressed hutch, the more texture, the better. Juxtaposed with smooth surfaces like vintage crockery or creamy serving platters, the textured elements give the space a lot of character.
• Wood accents – True farmhouse decor really embraces the beauty of wood. That’s not to say you can’t have a few fun painted pieces, like the beautiful hutch in the moodboard above, to bring in bright colors, but pair them with plenty of real-wood decor to give your space a natural feeling.
• Fresh Flowers – It just doesn’t feel like a true farmhouse without fresh flora! Spice up your farmhouse kitchen with real or faux floral arrangements and greenery, like a wreath or some wildflowers. For an added farmhouse touch, try swapping out a classic vase with mason jars or a vintage pitcher. You’ll be amazed how a touch of greenery brightens the whole room.
As always, thank you to Cassity and the Remodelaholic team for having me back each month. I hope you’ve enjoyed your dose of inspiration for today!
