Instructions

Step 1: Wrap the Wreath Form

Begin by wrapping the white loop yarn around the circle section of the wreath form. Start to one side of one of the ears and secure the yarn in place by looping it through one of the wire loops. You can add a dab of hot glue if you’d like for a secure hold on the yarn.

Continue wrapping the yarn tightly around the circle until the entire circular wreath section is covered, ensuring a full and even look to make a fluffy delightful Easter bunny.

Step 2: Add Bunny Ears

To add the bunny ears to the wreath, put a line of hot glue along the wire ear section. Attach the main section of the yarn (that the loops hang off of) to the wire with the glue. Repeat for the other ear. Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot glue!

Step 3: Finish the Yarn Wreath

Once you’ve covered the Easter bunny’s ears, wrap the yarn around the bare section between the ears, and anywhere else needed, until the full wreath form is covered in the loopy white yarn.

Trim the excess yarn with scissors, and secure by tying the yarn through one of the loops. Add an extra dab of hot glue for extra security if you’d like.

Step 4: Make a Ribbon Bow Tie

To add a bow tie for the Easter bunny, cut a piece of the pink burlap ribbon, about 18-inches long. Fold the ribbon in thirds, overlapping the ends to create a bow shape about 6 inches long. Wrap the center of the bow (where the ends are) with twine and either tie or glue the twine ends in place on the back of the bow.

Step 5: Add the Bow Tie to the Bunny

Use a generous dab of hot glue to secure the center of the bow (where the twine is) to the bottom of the yarn-covered bunny wreath form. The bulk yarn can make it tricky to glue on the bow, so you may want to use floral wire or pipe cleaners for extra hold.

Hanging the Wreath

You can hang the wreath easily with a hook to hold one of the rings of the wire wreath form. If that doesn’t work for your situation, use ribbon or floral wire to make a loop to attach to the back of the wreath.

Dollar Tree Easter Bunny Wreath Variations

While the classic white bunny wreath is charming on its own, you can customize your creation in various ways to suit your taste with these different wreath designs:

  1. Colorful Bunny: Experiment with different yarn colors to create a rainbow of bunny wreaths, perfect for adding a pop of color to your Easter decor. Use pastel pink, yellow, purple, or blue to look like Peeps bunny candy!
  2. Floral Accents: Swap the bow tie for a floral swag boutonniere, or enhance your spring wreath with faux flowers or greenery, weaving them through the yarn or attaching them with hot glue for a vibrant and festive touch.
  3. Personalized Details: Add embellishments such as pom-poms, buttons, or miniature Easter eggs to give your wreath extra personality and charm.

Common Questions about Dollar Store Bunny Wreaths

Here are some common questions related to making your own Dollar Tree Easter wreath with a wire bunny form:

Can I use a different type of yarn?

While the loop yarn like Bernat Alize Blanket Ez Yarn is recommended for its softness and bulkiness, you can certainly use other types of yarn for this project. Be mindful of the thickness and texture to achieve the desired look.

A thick chenille yarn or other chunky yarn or even thick jute twine can add the texture you’re looking for. White decorative mesh will give you a fluffy bunny wreath. Fabric strips, ribbon, or burlap fabric can be wrapped around the form, or try using a few fluffy Dollar Tree dust mop heads like we did on this Mickey Mouse wreath and this Dollar Tree snowman wreath.

Where can I find the wire bunny head wreath form?

The wire wreath form can be found at Dollar Tree stores, typically in the seasonal or craft section. If unavailable, similar bunny wreath frames are usually available to purchase at other craft or discount stores like Walmart, or here on Amazon.

If you can’t find a bunny wreath form, you can use a round wreath form and add burlap ears or a bunny ears headband, or make your own bunny ears form using wire cutters or small wire snips and a length of sturdy wire – a true DIY crafting adventure!

How long does it take to complete the wreath?

The time required to complete the wreath will vary depending on your crafting speed and level of detail. On average, expect to spend around 30 minutes to an hour from start to finish.

  • Bernat Alize Blanket Ez Yarn in white or another white loop yarn like this – about 18 yards total (16 m) // 6-7 oz (180 grams)
  • Pink burlap ribbon available at Dollar Tree or craft stores
  • Twine optional, for ribbon center
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors

Instructions

  • Begin by wrapping the white loop yarn around the circle section of the wreath form, securing it in place by looping it through one of the wire loops. (Add a dab of hot glue if you’d like.) Continue wrapping the yarn tightly around the circle until the entire section is covered, ensuring a full and even look.
  • To create the bunny ears, use the hot glue gun to line the wire with a thin strip of glue, then attach the long section of yarn (the loops hang off of this) along the wire. Repeat this step for both ears, being careful not to burn yourself with the hot glue.
  • Once the ears are in place, continue wrapping the yarn around the remaining portion of the wreath form between the ears, filling it in completely. Trim off any excess yarn with scissors, and secure the end by tying it through one of the loops.
