Supplies

  • 18-inch grapevine wreath (available at craft stores like Michaels, Joann’s, Hobby Lobby or Walmart for $5-10 – and don’t forget to use a coupon!)
  • Hot glue gun/glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Wire cutters
  • Dollar Tree picks (I used 2 each of the buffalo check ornament pick, lamb’s ear pick, flat holly with berries pick, and evergreen pine greenery pick)
  • Red and Black buffalo check bow (from the craft store or learn to make your own fancy ribbon bow here)

As always, work with what you can find at your local Dollar Tree or craft store – use different greenery stems and leaves or vines, add sleigh bells or dried oranges, swap the buffalo check for burlap ribbon, etc.

Instructions

Step 1: Attach the Bow

Start by attaching the red and black buffalo check bow to the wreath along the side, using the twist tie that comes with the wreath. Secure it further with twine, floral wire, or glue if needed.

Step 2: Prepare the Picks

Use wire cutters to trim the stems of the greenery picks. Cut the flat holly pieces, lamb’s ear, and buffalo check ornament pieces, leaving an inch or two of the stem for weaving into the wreath form.

Common Questions About the Dollar Tree Farmhouse Christmas Wreath

Can I use a different-sized wreath form?

Absolutely! Adjusting the wreath size allows for customization, but keep in mind that you might need to modify the quantity of materials accordingly. Dollar Tree twig wreaths are typically available in 12-inch or 10-inch sizes, for a miniature wreath for a mantel or hanging on cabinets. You could also easily adjust this holiday wreath to use a fresh wreath instead of a dried twig wreath – just add the picks to the evergreen wreath and enjoy!

Where can I find similar picks if Dollar Tree doesn’t have them?

Craft stores like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby usually carry a variety of picks, and during the Christmas season you may be able to find Christmas floral at other stores such as Big Lots or even Home Depot or Lowe’s. You can also explore online options for a broader selection.

Can I make this wreath with kids?

This project is family-friendly, but adult supervision is recommended, especially when using hot glue. Kids can help arrange and choose placements for the picks.
