Turmeric Banana Smoothie Bowl – Healthy Breakfast Recipe
A turmeric banana smoothie bowl is a quick and easy breakfast option packed with nutritional superfoods, and fun for the whole family.
Turmeric has had its spot as a wellness must-have for so long that I think we can finally consider a kitchen staple right? I mean it’s great for everything, from cooking up hearty dishes, to mixing it with milk for a golden latte. My favorite way to have it, however, is in a smoothie bowl. This turmeric banana smoothie bowl is everything your breakfast needs and probably more.
Why you need to start adding turmeric to your recipes?
If you are reading this and thinking: “turmeric? on a smoothie bowl?” don’t panic. It’s not going to end up tasting too overpowering. The turmeric just gives it a little warmth and a whole lot of golden color.
And if you are reading this and thinking: “what is turmeric and why should I use it?” then let me tell you it’s an asian root that you can find fresh or dried in most supermarket, health stores and asian markets. It has a really bright hue and it’s pretty much famous for it’s anti-inflammatory properties.
How to make a family friendly turmeric banana smoothie bowl
But let’s get back to this turmeric banana smoothie bowl. First it’s easy to make. Second, it only uses a handful of ingredients. Third, you can play with your toppings and much as you want. And finally, it’s refreshing and perfect for summer.
And if you have little ones, let me tell you this is a great way to give them superfoods without them noticing + they are going to fall in love with the bright yellow color of their breakfast.
We make it with almond milk or cashew milk but it’s delicious with coconut milk as well and with traditional cow’s milk so just use whatever you have on hand and love.
For the banana part of this turmeric banana smoothie bowl I use frozen banana coins. When I go to the market I purchase a bunch of bananas, slice them and freeze them in an airtight container. While using fresh bananas is delicious as well, with the frozen banana coins you get a more ice cream like consistency that’s perfect to fight the heat (and makes you feel like if you are having dessert for breakfast).
