15 Closet Laundry Room Ideas
A closet laundry room may be small and in a closet, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be really efficient and functional. We will show you how to make the most of a closet laundry room.
Laundry Rooms can either help motivate you to get it done on laundry day, or sap all the energy from your life and soul. Too dramatic? Nah, we all know it is true. But what if (like most of us, we don’t have a huge room to house these appliances?) Then these BEAUTIFUL closet laundry rooms, even smaller spaces should inspire you to make your tiny space efficient and motivational.

Closet Laundry Room Ideas
This barn door- sliding door setup from a beautiful antique door makes this laundry room! Not every interior door in the house needs match. These feature door bring some added style. If you don’t have room for the barn door hardware option then a pocket door would give you a similar effect. And just a reminder, you don’t have to buy a new door for it to be fabulous- in fact an antique door from a restore is a great option! Image source
I love this hallway stacked washer and dryer laundry closet. It is simply the machines, but I love how the door opens and pushes back into the space to give you the most room possible, in such a tight space. This is a great example of how just a little extra thought, makes for a usable space. It is also perfect for guests or an air bnb where you don’t need a full laundry room, just access to the machines. (now if they had a pullout counter surface between the units they would be 100% golden!)
This is another one of those great budget ideas for a hall. I LOVE the cubbies they created with inexpensive shelving wood! Simple French doors style, closet doors, contain the busy. If you are worried about ventilation in a small hallway where the doors might need to be closed while running a load, consider louvered doors that allow for air flow even when the door are closed. Another great compact laundry closet with three appliances. Not exactly a pantry, but the bottle cooler, is a nice bonus feature of the space, especially if you want one but don’t have a place for it. I want to point out a really simple feature. Having a space for a basket to collect random dirty kitchen or hand towels, and socks from around the house is a great useful feature to include in these spaces. I love this whole laundry room in a closet! It even has a SINK! The pullout ironing board is also a dream feature, because most of us just need a quick iron option for fast fixes. Out of site when not in use but a great size when open! Notice the accordion doors that allow for a really open space. this is not your average closet laundry, because it is quite large. WOW! This laundry room hidden in a bathroom is beautiful! Notice the bifold doors on just one side, as an option where 2 doors wouldn’t fit. One side has plenty of room, but the other is tight because to the placement of the sink. This closest also has very useful extra storage for bathroom needs like clean towel freshly laundered. This bathroom and laundry also has incredible natural light it feels like a happy oasis of light. Which is a huge bonus feature in any interior space! Image Source
Great Built In hidden Laundry Rooms
Keep in mind venting for your dryer! Keep it safe! That is the most important thing!
These push back doors, to open up to a totally useful laundry Space that is hidden when not in use, are amazing! I LOVE this laundry space! These cabinets are some of my favorite in this whole round up! Notice how they made the doors look like 2 drawers, so clever!! Just frame out two doors with a shaker style drawer frame and add pretty hardware like we did in this closet makeover. This is great DIY inspiration here! Image Source
These large scale doors are lovely and the venting for safety is ideal, the lattice look is also a great alternative to louvered doors, very traditional but still new and beautiful! I love the look! Image Source
This great option doesn’t require any built in cabinetry for those who lack those skills. Rather you could accomplish this look with a tensions rod shower bar and your favorite fabric. It can even be no sew with the right adhesive sewing products. Or head to the curtain part of the store and buy them premade. You can still keep your machines out of site and layer on the style. ! Tips for Organizing and Designing
- Safety. When hiding a laundry room in built-ins make sure to allow for proper venting, etc. review your dryer manual for specific instructions.
- Space Saving. Think of ways to really save on space. Use doors that slide back into the space or sliding barn doors, fold out ironing boards, etc. and think of spaces that might not be heavily used, like under stairs, or even a linen closet.
- Think Pretty. Allow the inside of the closet to be organized with shelves, baskets, and more. And then make the outside work seamlessly in with your home decor by creating beautiful doors, to highlight the feature
- Designing the space. What is the average size for a Laundry room door? The doorway should be at minimum of 32″ (maybe you could get away with 30″, often most machines are approximately 30″ wide, a little extra space in the door will help you be able to fit your appliances in place, and replace them if necessary
