Master Bedroom Refresh: Update Your Bedroom with Just 4 Items
Hi! This is Kristin, from Postbox Designs, Interior E-Design, back with my monthly custom Mood Board just for you guys! As an interior designer, one of the biggest obstacles my clients have is simply being overwhelmed and not knowing where to start. And I get it! You might be wandering the aisles of a store trying to figure out what items coordinate. Or you have a Pinterest board full of images, but have no idea of the first step to re-create it at home.
Since my company focuses solely on Interior E-Design, I have found the single best tool for my clients is their Mood Board. A Mood Board shows you all of your items at once, and what they look like pulled together. Then, once you have a concrete plan, it is a lot easier to swap out one or two items. No more purchasing items from half a dozen stores and bringing them into your home to see if they work. Now you can visualize your room digitally before buying a thing!
If you are looking for Mood Boards for different rooms, Remodelaholic has a multitude to choose from! Check out a couple of them:

Today though, I want to tackle your Master Bedroom! If yours is anything like mine, it can often become overrun with piles of laundry, half-finished snacks, and a barrage of kid toys. (Oh, it’s just MY master bedroom?!) I want your Master Bedroom to be a place that brings you peace, comfort, and joy. After today, you’re never going to leave your bed!
Best yet, I can help you create a new bed with just four simple items.
Yup, nothing overwhelming about that, is there? Believe it or not, there is an actual formula for creating bedding that is beautiful but manageable (you really don’t want 13 accent pillows on your bed). Swap in different items for different design styles, but the formula stays the same:
Sheets + Comforter or Duvet + Accent Pillow(s) + Throw
So today I wanted to create a special Bedding Mood Board just for you guys! I chose three popular styles: Farmhouse Bedroom, Boho Chic Bedroom, and Traditional Bedroom, and created a bedding combination for each one.

Neutrals rule here, so look for creams, whites, grays, or even some light blues. Subtle patterns like a ticking stripe, swiss dots, and basketweaves work well.
BOHO CHIC BEDDING
Color is a must here! You can start with crisp white bedding as a foundation, but then layer on global prints in bold colors. Navy, dark greens, rich reds, and pops of gold all work well. Aztec patterns, tassels, fringe, and pompoms all work as accents.
TRADITIONAL BEDDING
You can’t go wrong with crisp, white bedding. Go all white and pretend like you are living in a luxury hotel. Add a monogram (either on your accent pillow or your pillow shams) for a personal touch. If you want to add a pop of color, add in a gorgeous accent pillow for a focal point (and you can switch out just that one pillow for a whole new look).
Here’s another example to show you how it works. Right now I’m hosting a Free 5 Day Design Challenge, and my Day #1 Challenge: Create the Perfect Bedding with 4 Items! This is a lovely, neutral bedding set from Serena and Lily. And while you can purchase all of the items from their store, I found some alternatives that create a similar look (and a lot more budget friendly).
So how do you re-create this Master Bedroom look on a budget?
